Senior Payroll Analyst

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. MST

Assignment: Through February 26, 2027, with potential for extension based on workload and staffing needs

Our multi-billion client is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to support a high-volume payroll team during a critical year-end period. This person will primarily assist with year-end preparation, reporting, audit support, and payroll data analysis, while also serving as a backup resource for off-cycle payroll processing as needed.

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on Workday Payroll professional who is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and able to move between reconciliations, reporting requests, and time-sensitive payroll issues.

Responsibilities

• Support year-end payroll preparation, balancing, reconciliation, and validation activities.
• Reconcile Workday payroll data to year-end documents, including W-2 preview review and resolution of out-of-balance conditions.
• Produce requested payroll reports and assist with payroll data gathering for internal and external audits.
• Review and, as needed, enter off-cycle payroll checks, including tax adjustments, imputed income, and other payroll corrections.
• Serve as backup support for regular payroll processing during periods of reduced staffing or increased workload.
• Pull, review, and analyze Workday payroll reports, including payroll registers and earnings/deduction detail.
• Support tax-related processes, including use of Workday quarterly tax filing reports, local tax questions, and Washington workers’ compensation code setup.
• Create and upload EIBs within Workday.
• Research payroll filing requirements and respond to notices or requests through state tax and related agency portals.
• Partner with payroll team members to identify, investigate, and resolve payroll data discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Strong, recent hands-on experience with Workday Payroll is required.
• Experience processing or reviewing Workday off-cycle checks, including tax adjustments and imputed income.
• Demonstrated year-end payroll experience, including W-2 preview/reconciliation and resolving balancing issues.
• Strong familiarity with Workday payroll reports, tasks, and EIBs.
• Knowledge of payroll tax processes, state and local tax requirements, and agency portals.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, calculations, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions.
• Experience supporting payroll audits and producing ad hoc payroll reports.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, and Gmail.
• Experience working with payroll vendors such as ADP and/or OneSource Virtual is preferred.
• Comfort using AI tools to assist with data evaluation is a plus, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
